Shaq Koyok
Shaq Koyok is an award-winning contemporary artist and activist from the Temuan Orang Asli tribe in Banting, Selangor. A graduate of Universiti Teknologi MARA with a degree in Fine Arts, Shaq merges powerful storytelling with visual art to advocate for indigenous rights and environmental justice. Deeply influenced by childhood experiences of deforestation near his village, his work often reflects the trauma and resilience of Orang Asli communities. Known for his vivid portraits and bold installations, Shaq uses diverse artistic mediums—including murals and performance art—to spotlight the struggles and strength of Malaysia’s indigenous people. He is also actively involved in community art projects with rural Orang Asli villages, continuing his mission to defend cultural identity and land rights through art and activism.
