Rt Hon. Helen Clark
Rt Hon. Helen Clark served as Prime Minister of New Zealand from 1999 to 2008 and was a Member of Parliament for 27 years. Renowned for her leadership on social justice, sustainability, and multilateralism, she later served two terms as Administrator of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and chaired the UN Development Group from 2009 to 2017. A strong advocate for sustainable development, climate action, gender equality, and global health, Helen was appointed Co-Chair of the WHO Independent Panel for Pandemic Preparedness and Response in 2020. She currently chairs the boards of the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative and the Partnership for Maternal, Newborn and Child Health, among other global public interest organizations. Prior to her political career, she taught at the University of Auckland, where she earned her BA and MA (Hons) in Political Studies.
