Think City

Think City, established in 2009 by Khazanah Nasional, began as a response to George Town’s 2008 designation as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, launching the George Town Grants Programme to support urban regeneration and heritage conservation. Over time, Think City expanded to Butterworth, Johor Bahru, and Kuala Lumpur, evolving into a broader citymaking organisation that partners with public, private, and community stakeholders.

By combining financial and technical support with community-driven approaches, Think City catalysed transformation in urban environments. It has disbursed 240 grants worth MYR16 million (US$4 million) for projects in public realm improvement, conservation, capacity building, and content development. Today, Think City continues its work with a strong focus on community engagement, urban innovation, and the Sustainable Development Goals, contributing to impactful regeneration across Malaysia.
