Cruyff Court Kg Bharu officially launched, offers safe play space for local community

19 Oct 2024: On Saturday, we proudly celebrated the official launch of the Cruyff Court in Kg. Bharu, Kuala Lumpur—marking the completion of eight Cruyff Courts in Malaysia! The energy was electric as we embraced a day filled with community spirit and sportsmanship.

The festivities included a captivating traditional silat performance by the talented Kg. Bharu community, followed by an exhilarating futsal friendly match featuring teams from Khazanah Nasional Berhad, Khazanah Research Institute, MAS, and Yayasan Hasanah. It was a joyful celebration that truly showcased the power of sport to unite and inspire.

The Cruyff Court in Kg Bharu, inaugurated in early 2022 through a partnership between Yayasan Hasanah and the Malay Agricultural Settlement (M.A.S), was developed for the local youth. The court has become a vibrant community hub, attracting over 8,000 users in its second quarter and more than 13,000 in 2023, highlighting its role in promoting sports and community engagement, in line with the values of the Johan Cruyff Foundation.

The Cruyff Courts series in Malaysia offer free admission for children and youths, with minimal fee for corporate use.

Since 2012, the Cruyff Court series in Malaysia has been funded and developed by Yayasan Hasanah, in collaboration with Johan Cruyff Foundation. Today, there are eight Cruyff Courts built nationwide — one each in Johor, Pahang, Kedah, and Kelantan, and three in low-income urban areas of Kuala Lumpur. Yayasan Hasanah aims to add seven more by 2026.

The launch was officiated by Puan Siti Kamariah, Yayasan Hasanah, Trustee & Managing Director, along with Tuan Haji Shamsuri, Honorary Secretary from M.A.S. witnessed by Yayasan Hasanah Chief Financial Officer, Puan Sharifah Norjumiza.
